Glimpsing Cosmic Origins with the Simons Observatory
The Simons Observatory is currently under construction in the Atacama Desert of Northern Chile. This observatory is formed out of a collaboration between the Simons Foundation, the founding universities (University of Pennsylvania; Princeton University; the University of California, San Diego; the University of California, Berkeley; and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory) and collaborating institutions across the globe.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 30 2019 at the Simons Observatory site in the Atacama Desert. The Simons Foundation made an additional commitment to support operations.
